A kitchen worth chasing

Gooood morning, Kingston! Happy Monday! Tacos? Check. Wagyu burgers? Double check. A Canadian Tire sign swap that’s somehow the talk of the town? Only in Kingston. This week’s got flavour, drama, and a mystery foodie named Great Eats dishing out hot tips. For more Cinco de Mayo fun, peek at Friday’s newsletter—or catch us on Instagram story highlights. Let’s get spicy.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Bye Bath Road, Hello Loblaws Lot
The Canadian Tire at 59 Bath Road has officially closed as the shiny new one next to Loblaws gets set to open. Signage has been updated, and so has the neighbourhood buzz. (Reid and Ben)

Belle Park sees spike in safety concerns

Canada Post workers could strike again May 22
Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers are back at the bargaining table, but if no deal is reached, another strike could begin as early as Wednesday, May 22. Last year’s walkout ended with a government-ordered return to work. This time, banks and businesses are already issuing disruption warnings. (Global News)

Business Feature

A YGKtoday subscriber, known only as Great Eats, has a hot tip: Otter Creek Kitchen is serving up some of the best bites in town, and not just at their Princess Street spot.

Mouthwatering photo from Otter Creek Kitchen’s website.

I have found that anything Otter Creek is involved in to be wonderful.  Will (chef) contributes to the community, and also has a great casual business on Princess St., as well as a chip truck at Queens University.

Great Eats

You’ll also find their food truck parked at Fine Balance Brewing on select Fridays from May through October, slinging farm-to-table eats that put full-blood Wagyu front and centre.

From burgers to seasonal specials, Otter Creek is crafting casual eats and their FeastON certification proves it. Keep an eye out, Kingston. These flavours are worth the chase.

Got a favourite spot you think deserves a shoutout in our ‘Local Biz’ section? Send us your rec. We love a good tip-off.
