🏥 Kingston Hospital Welcomes Revolutionary Breast Cancer Tech
Thanks to a generous $175,000 gift from local philanthropist Stephen Sorensen, Kingston Health Sciences Centre will become one of the first Ontario hospitals to offer MOLLI® technology. This brilliant innovation uses a tiny magnetic marker—about the size of a sesame seed—to precisely locate tumours before surgery.
The wire-free, radiation-free system allows surgeons to plan procedures up to 30 days in advance, replacing traditional methods that could be uncomfortable and restrictive. Developed at Sunnybrook Research Institute and named one of TIME Magazine's Best Inventions of 2022, MOLLI® promises more accurate surgeries and easier recoveries for patients across southeastern Ontario.
