May 3 plans? You might need new ones
Gooood morning, Kingston! Did you miss us? We hit pause on Monday for a little Easter reset (reading in bed with chocolate wrappers piling up like receipts). But now we're back, buzzing with local goodness.
Got a favourite spot you think deserves a shoutout in our ‘Local Biz’ section? Send us your rec — we love a good tip-off.
Alright, let’s dive in.
A Reddit thread got us thinking this weekend—and with The Last of Us back for season three, we couldn’t resist bringing the question to Kingston:
If a zombie apocalypse hit Kingston, where would you hunker down and ride it out? |

H’art Centre finds a forever home
After 27 years downtown, H’art Centre is moving into a newly renovated space at Providence Village this June—with a fashionable assist from Queen’s University. The Vogue Charity Fashion Show donated 82 thousand and five hundred dollars to support accessibility upgrades for the new space, and H’art even strutted their own designs in the show. (The Whig)
City Nature Challenge starts today
Kingston’s in a wild competition — literally. From today (Friday, April 25) through April 28, locals are snapping pics of plants and critters for the City Nature Challenge, joining 43 other Canadian cities to record as much biodiversity as possible. Just upload your sightings to iNaturalist to help scientists (and maybe help Kingston win). (City of Kingston)
Food recalls issued across Canada
Check your kitchen — CFIA has recalled several products due to listeria, salmonella, undeclared allergens, and even… insects and wood bits. Items include pasta, crackers, meats, soups, and more, sold at major retailers like Walmart and Longo’s. (Narcity)
