This bookstore contest could win you a $1,000 gift card

Gooood morning, Kingston! Your weekend forecast calls for a dangerously good café tip and a book-buying spree that could win you a $1,000 gift card. Let’s get into the weird and wonderful world of local info you didn’t know you needed.

But first….

The results are in!

On Wednesday we asked, “If a zombie apocalypse hit Kingston, where would you hunker down and ride it out?”

  • 50 percent chose Costco — because who doesn’t want bulk snacks and barricades?

  • 40 percent would head to Fort Henry — it’s fortified for a reason.

  • 10 percent would escape to The Screening Room — nothing like zombie flicks while waiting out the apocalypse.

  • 20 percent picked Other — with some unique survival spots.

    • The best response? “Library. Where else am I going to learn how to survive?”

Looks like Kingston’s all about those bulk snacks and fortified spots!

Foodie Friday: Juniper CafĂŠ edition

Big thanks to Brian N. for this hot tip — Juniper Café is serving up more than just waterfront vibes.

With not one but two cozy locations (Centennial & Cat Woods + the Tett Centre), this spot is beloved for its stellar coffee, steeped teas, local wine and beer, and a menu of fresh, flavourful meals and pastries. Bonus: there’s even a mini market stocked with specialty goods.

As Brian says, “You really can’t go wrong.”
