Your Victoria Day, done right

Gooood morning, Kingston! Happy Monday! Still staring at your coffee wondering what to do today? We’ve got you! Plus, we’ve got your long weekend poll results, a royal trivia moment, and a full lineup of events to keep your week anything but boring.

And if you need a moment to move, breathe, or just stretch out the long weekend vibes, Studio330 is offering free classes today at both of their locations.

Victoria Day
Today, Monday, May 19

From patios to public pools, Kingston’s keeping things lively this Victoria Day.

The results are in!

On Friday, we asked ā€œWhat’s your long weekend vibe, YGK?ā€
The people have spoken, and the latte-fuelled leisure life is winning, but with all the action around town today, we’re guessing a few recliners might suddenly become roamers:

  • 33 percent are off to Lemoine Point with a latte, because nothing says ā€œlong weekendā€ like trees and reusable travel mugs.

  • 30 percent are embracing their inner rainy day recluse. Pyjamas? On. Plans? Cancelled. Well, they were… until this newsletter showed up.

  • 24 percent are downtown and mildly overspending — local shopping totally counts as cardio.

  • 22 percent said ā€œWait… it’s a long weekend?ā€ We’re guessing their Monday plans just got a lot more exciting.

  • 7 percent had their own plans, including:

    • ā€œGoing to the trailer for the first time this year!!ā€

    • ā€œTime to fill the gardens with plants!ā€

    • ā€œTaking in a patio – weather permittingā€

    • ā€œSpring cleaning šŸ§¹ā€

    • ā€œWorking unfortunately :(ā€ (We raise a coffee to you.)

City Hall’s lighting up, Cirque de Paris pros are flipping at the RioCan, and tacos are flying off the grill in Bath. Plus, there's a cannon or two, a half-price thrift haul, and the 1225 Princess Street Food Basics that’s definitely open (thanks, insider tip).

And if you want the full scoop, Kingstonist shares what’s open and closed today around town.

Splash pad season now on

Confederation Park fountain gets a glow-up
Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, May 20, Confederation Park’s iconic fountain is getting a makeover. Think fresh basin, new fencing, and LED lighting that'll make your evening strolls a little brighter. The plaza will be fenced off, but paths through the park will stay open. (City of Kingston)
